The Museum of the Street X The Collection of the Art Museum

February 14 – August 2 2026

In Spring 2025, we opened the exhibition The Museum of the Street, in which street artist Peter Birk had recreated the exhibition space of the museum, using as his starting point selected works from the collection. The result was a wild and all-encompassing installation that developed into an alternative scene in the city.

Now we have changed the scene: In cooperation with Birk, parts of his artistic interventions have been painted over, while other parts have been allowed to remain, functioning both as traces and as a different sort of backdrop for yet more works from the renowned collection of the museum.

Thus, The Museum of the Street has been transformed into an unusual joint exhibition – a novel and daring presentation of landscape paintings, conceptual works, and concrete-abstract works that counter and comment on Birk’s colour-intensive and spatial touches.
